Jacob Banigan Banigan is a 25-year veteran of impro, 13 years with THE ENGLISH LOVERS. He was Artistic Director of Rapid Fire Theatre in Canada for ten years. He has created and developed many lasting forms of impro, and travelled across Europe and North America performing and teaching. Jacob is an ensemble member of Theater Im Bahnhof in Graz, one third of Gordon’s Big Bald Head in Edmonton, and one half of Rocket Sugar Factory everywhere.
Dennis Kozeluh, a founding member of THE ENGLISH LOVERS, is currently in Lower Austria, performing in the musical Jane Eyre in Gmunden. Dennis has performed at most major musical theatres in the German-speaking world in roles as diverse as Captain Andy in Showboat, Judge Turpin in Sweeney Todd, and Reverend Moore in Footloose. He’s written and directed for Kabarett Simpl, Ronacher, Raimund Theater, and Vindobona and plays mostly in German, a language he finds far more logical than English. He might sneak into the English Theatre for a matinee or two!
Jim Libby is a performer, director and catalyst. He helped to create the first fully improvised radio play for the BBC (A Time to Dance, which was nominated for a Sony Academy Award for best drama) the first fully improvised performance piece to be taken into the repertoire of a German state theatre (Zwischen frechem Volke, Mainfranken Theater, Würzburg) and directed the first fully improvised feature film to be produced in Austria (Another One Opens, with THE ENGLISH LOVERS, produced by Nicolas Neuhold). When Jim isn’t in Vienna, he’s traveling all over Europe and North America performing, directing, and lecturing as well as kissing, dancing and singing (not necessarily in that order).
Bronwynn Mertz-Penzinger is an Australian actress who works on both stage and screen. In Vienna since 1992 she works regularly with THE ENGLISH LOVERS and the Vienna Theatre Project as well as internationally with the Orcas Island Project. She is also a CliniClown as well as a voice over artist, whose voice can be heard in films, TV shows, ads and at various museums throughout Austria. Currently she is part of an International Training Programme here in Vienna, studying to become a Feldenkrais Practitioner.
Michael Smulik was born in Port-Elizabeth, South-Africa. As a native speaker of both languages, he has worked extensively in English and German productions all over Europe. In Vienna he recently starred in Invisible Hand, by Ayad Akhtar in English and in Lampedusa, by Anders Lustgarten, in German, both at the Theater Drachengasse.
Kathy Tanner was born and almost grew up in Ireland. She has been in all aspects of the theatre including theatre, film, television and musicals, since 1979. She is a founder member of THE ENGLISH LOVERS and has performed with them for over 20 years. When she grows up she will retire!!
Anne Weiner was born in Klosterneuburg and grew up in England, attending stage and ballet schools and later returning to perform in operettas, musicals, children’s theatre, TV and even the occasional opera. Favourite productions include Jesus Christ Superstar, Die Dreigroschenoper, Vorwärts in die Fifties and more recently The Glass Menagerie and The Importance of Being Earnest with Open House Theatre, Vienna. Anne narrated the Loose Collective production On Earth and the prize-winning Luc-Film documentary Golden Genes.
Belush Korenyi studied classical piano, Jazz piano und composition at the Konservatorium der Stadt Wien. Since 1996, he has worked as Musical Director or assistant, taught music theory and Solfeggio at two schools and worked as choir director. In 2005 he performed with Bobby McFerrin at the Musikverein in cooperation with the Konservatorium der Stadt Wien. He has also performed in countless shows including: Carmen Cubana, Footloose, Rockville, Rebecca, Lola Blau, Kiss Me Kate and many more. Belush was a guest teacher at Germantown High School in Memphis together with Jim Libby und Kathy Tanner, and has performed in New York, Off Broadway, at the Bohemian National Concert Hall.
Klaus Erharter studied composition at the Music University Vienna and is musical director for theatres such as the Burgtheater, Schauspiel Hannover etc. He also teaches at the Max-Reinhardt-Seminar Wien.
Born in Zagreb, Croatia, Gordana was light and sound engineer and designer at Theater Drachengasse until 2014. She has worked at numerous other theatres in Austria and abroad including: dietheater Künstlerhaus Wien, WUK Wien, 3raum-Anatomietheater Wien, Ensemble Theater Wien, Needle / Kunsthaus Graz, Hoftheater Gossam, Posthof Linz, Poolbar Feldkirch, Seelax Festival Bregenz, Bühne im Hof St. Pölten, wald4tler Hoftheater, Admiralspalast Berlin, Les Kurbas Theater Lemberg, Ästhetisches Haus Czernowitz, Improfestival Würzburg, Linui Redange, Theater Koleso Kiew, Theater Phönix Linz, Vereinigte Bühnen Bozen.
