RICHARD PANZENBÖCK


Richard has a variety of talents and qualifications. He is trained as a puppeteer, actor, designer and speaker.

He worked for the ORF (Austrian Broadcast Corporation) for seven years as a lead puppeteer for many TV shows including ‘Franz Ferdinand’, ‘Kasperl’, ’7 Wunder’, ‘ABC Bär’, ‘Tom Turbo’, etc. Some of the shows were sold internationaly and won various international awards. Other film and television credits include ‘MSND’, ‘The Tragedy of Macbeth’, ‘11er Haus’ by Alfred Dorfer and Harald Sicheritz, ‘Tom Turbo – The Movie’ where he was the head of puppetry departement, ‘Trautmann’ and many other exciting productions.

His theatre credits includes acting and puppeteering work for Theater der Jugend, Schubert Theatre, Nestroyhof/Hamakom, Theater Drachengasse, Burg Forchtenstein, European Shakespeare Days and of course Vienna’s English Theatre. He joined the VET Youth Ensemble in 2014 as an assistant director. Since then he worked on ‘Blood Brothers’, ‘Into The Woods’, ‘Rent’ and the new production ‘Dogfight’. Richard also worked as a co-writer for comedian Gernot Haas.

His design credits include the costume design for the world premiere of Disney’s ‘Camp Rock – The Musical’, stage designs for various Vienna Theatre Project productions at Theatre Drachengasse including ‘Marry Me A Little’, ‘The Invisible Hand’, ‘[title of show]’, etc. Before he was running the puppet and costume department for the ORF (Austrian Broadcast Corporation) childrens television programme okidoki for five years, he worked for various live shows: ’Dancing Stars’, ’Star Mania’, ’Eurovision Dance Contest’, etc.

For his production ’Paperman’ at the Schubert Theatre he wrote the book and is one of the lead puppeteers in the show. ’Paperman’ made the 2nd place at the RTL prime time show ’Die Puppenstars’. The Show generated above average ratings on television in Germany.

He directed ’helden’ by Ewald Palmetshofer at the Schubert Theatre and crated puppets for ‘Cinderella passt was nicht’ at the Theater der Jugend, where he also coached the actors.
