Sophia Linhart

Sophia found her way into film and theatre in 2018, whilst studying architecture. Since then, her work has spanned a range of architecture and stage design - creating spaces for all kind of purposes and narratives. Her work comprises theatre, set design, sceneries for film, visual arts, interior design and, of course, architecture.

Her theatrical journey began as assistant at the Theater in der Josefstadt in Vienna, whilst working on various projects in the independent theatre scene, including productions at the OFF Theater, or WERK X, in Vienna, as well as collaborations with the Max Reinhard Seminar (Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst). She’s also worked internationally, including among others, the set design for the production of Schaum der Tage at Stadttheater Koblenz, and Die 12 Monate at the Theatre o.N. in Berlin.

In addition to set design, she has also worked in cinematography within the art department. Most recently, she was the art director to the Bavarian movie, Wer gräbt den Bestatter ein, which made its cinematic debut in October 2022.

In 2022, her journey introduced her to Studio Kudlich, where she began working for Hans-Peter Kudlich, one of Austria’s most accomplished and innovative stage designers. Alongside him she was involved in a wide range of projects like the Sommerfestspiele in Reichenau and most recently, the Opera in Sofia, Bulgaria.

I and You is her first design for Vienna’s English Theatre.
