Lawrence Evans

Lawrence works as a movement director, director, actor, and teacher. Nominated for an Olivier Award for his work with Tony Harrison at the National Theatre, he has worked with the poet as a movement director and actor on all his site-specific theatre pieces. He received a Best Actor award from the Liverpool Echo and Daily Post Arts Awards and has worked at many of the regional Repertory Theatres throughout the UK, as well as the NT Studio, Cheek by Jowl, the Young Vic, and Northern Broadsides.

Directing work includes The Soldiers Tale with the orchestra of the Academy of St Martin in the Fields (UK tour, Wilton’s Music Hall, BBC3 Live recording), A Midsummer Night’s Dream with the Irish Chamber Orchestra and Storytellers Theatre Company and as an Associate Director at Theatre Centre.

As a Movement Director his work includes the National Theatre, National Educational Dept (Touring), Hampstead Theatre, Bristol Old Vic, Tamasha Theatre Company, Unicorn Theatre and Chalkfoot Productions. His co-written play Lives Worth Living is published by Heinemann Educational. Future work includes directing Macbeth at Drama Centre and Merry Wives of Windsor at RADA.
