Judith Croft

Judith studied Fashion Textiles, then post graduate Theatre Design at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School. She has worked extensively in the North West, and as Head of Design for the Library Theatre in Manchester, she designed many shows for the company.

Productions for the LTC include The Odd Couple, winner of Best Production, Manchester Evening News; The Brighton Beach trilogy and Laughter on the 23rd Floor, which she also designed for the West End run and national tour. Other productions in London, include work for Quicksilver, Theatre Centre, The Women’s Theatre group, and Dying For It at RADA, with Nona Shepphard directing. Judith has designed musicals, including Assassins, Company and Putting It Together, with Roger Haines directing at the LTC, and Leader of The Pack, at the New Wolsey Ipswich and Theatr Clwyd, directed by Pete Rowe. She has designed the Rock and Roll panto at Theatr Clwyd for several years and a new actor musician show, Somewhere in England, also for Theatr Clwyd.

She has designed opera for the RNCM, Falstaff, winner of Best Production of Opera award. Other award winning productions include Translations, My Night With Reg, Someone Who’ll Watch Over Me and Waiting For Godot. Judith has designed a series of work at the Lowry, including Arcadia, A Dolls House, The Heretic, The Daughter in Law, Wind in the Willows, Mother Courage and The Seagull.

Judith has also designed for a range of site specific projects; Alice in Wonderland in Heaton Park, Manchester and Hard Times, which took place in a disused cotton mill, for which Judith won the Best Design from Manchester Theatre Awards.

She has designed a series of work in Chester, for TiQ Theatre Company, including Home For Christmas, Silent Night and A Christmas Carol, all site specific. She has designed the last two cycles of The Mystery Plays in Chester Cathedral and recently created two large scale installations, also in the Cathedral.

Her most recent work includes Sleeping Beauty in Leeds, The Importance of Being Earnest for a RADA Cunard production and Hello, Goodbye; Sleuth and Beau Jest for Vienna’s English Theatre.
