SYNOPSIS
This is the 1930s Noël Coward at his inimitable best – irresistibly funny, witty and sophisticated in the style that won him his reputation as the most successful writer of high comedy.
Julia and Jane, the “angels” in question, best friends and both happily married for five years, are living comfortable lives in fashionable London with their worthy but possibly slightly dull husbands. Their tranquil stability is thrown into chaos when they receive word that the dashing Frenchman, with whom they each had a premarital fling, is coming to London. As they try to prepare themselves for a reunion – with their husbands safely despatched to the golf course - Julia and Jane embark upon an evening of champagne-infused, giddy anticipation, assisted by Julia’s hilarious new maid who has been absolutely everywhere and done absolutely everything. Will old passions be rekindled? Will jealousy rear its ugly head? And above all – will their husbands find out?
